News Flash!

Wright College Partnership

Wright CollegeWednesday, May 19, 2010—Luther High School North is proud to announce a unique and exciting partnership with Wright College.  As we move forward with our plan for sustainability Luther North continues to upgrade facilities and improve programs.  The academic partnership with Wright College will expand the academic offerings to our students to provide dual credit courses.  This is an excellent way for our Luther North students to get a jump start on the Wright path of their college careers.  After this program, students will graduate from Luther North with a high school diploma and a college transcript, possibly an associate’s degree, from Wright College.

All eligible seniors will have the opportunity to take pre-approved courses.  Academic eligibility is determined by a student’s ACT sub-scores.  A student who has not yet taken the ACT will take a placement test to determine his or her eligibility.  In addition, students will need a teacher recommendation as to their ability to do independent work, motivation, and maturity.  Students will take these courses at Wright College in the mornings and take Luther North classes in the afternoons.  Students are also allowed to take courses in the late afternoon, evenings, and on weekends.  For morning courses, Luther North bus will transport the students to Wright College and then transport them back to Luther North.  Starting in the 2011-2012 school year, we will expand this program to juniors as well.

If the Dual-Credit Program at Wright College is funded by the state, there will be no additional charge for the courses.  If it is not funded, Luther North will split the cost (approximately $140.00 each) of up to two morning courses per year with families.  Books are an additional cost.

For any further questions, please contact JoAnne Rzadzki.

Summer is usually a slow time for most other schools, but at Luther High School North things are really heating up.  We are in the middle of summer school, hiring new part time faculty and retooling our technology.  It’s never a dull moment here at Luther North.

The spiritual theme for the coming school year is “Created Anew” so everything we do is not “business as usual” but rather developing new programs which will equip students to deal with the high demands of “employability” in the years ahead.  This will include team building, leadership skills, people skills, and technology usage along with the continued quality academic education such as critical thinking skills, communication, and collaboration they are receiving at this time.  The overall vision I have for this school is to have students waiting to get in.
