From Our Students...

"During my stay at Luther, I was taught by teachers who believed in me more than any other teachers ever have. Even after I had lost the confidence in myself, they still pushed me to be a better person."

We are two days from the start of school!  We at Luther High School North were anticipating 165 students and it looks like we will surpass that number.  At the present time our maintenance staff is busy moving our special education classrooms from one end of the building to the other, and also helping with the construction of a brand new video studio which will be used by LHN and other ministries throughout the NW side of Chicago.  This is exciting because our students will receive HS credit for a video production class along with hands on instruction while producing recruitment and marketing videos that will be shared via the airwaves.  I also would like to report that the Wright College classes are now available to LHN students and already there are a number of seniors who are taking advantage of the opportunity.

This coming school year Luther High School North will be able to offer the following:

  1. On-line course offerings
  2. Dual Credit classes connected with Wright College
  3. A Video Production Studio
  4. Added computers with advanced whiteboard technology
  5. A successful special education program
  6. An ACT prep course
  7. A CPR class for students

Our football coach Mr. Wayne Wenzel has reported that we will have between 26-30 football players on the team this year.  This is not bad for a school of around 170 students.  I would like to remind you that HC weekend is October 2, 2010.  I hope to see a lot of people at that game as we take on Hiawatha High School.

We are presently planning many events for family, friends, and alumni of Luther High School North which will span many interests such as reunions, tournaments, a gala, trivia night etc. all set up to bring the LHN community closer together.  This will be an exciting year.  Please keep Luther High School North in your prayers, and if the Spirit moves you please think about helping out students who cannot afford an outstanding Lutheran education.  We might lose as many as 10 students if they do not receive enough financial aid, so please sponsor a student or give to Luther High School North so that more students can experience God’s grace and love.
